Descripción:
New York: Random House, 1985. "Blood Meridian seems to me the authentic American apocalyptic novel, more relevant even in 2000 than it was fifteen years ago. The fulfilled renown of Moby-Dick and of As I Lay Dying is augmented by Blood Meridian, since Cormac McCarthy is the worthy disciple both of Melville and of Faulkner. I venture that no other living American novelist, not even Pynchon, has given us a book as strong and memorable as Blood Meridian" (Harold Bloom). McCarthy can only be compared with our greatest writers, with Melville and Faulkner, and this is his masterpiece" (Michael Herr).

Descripción:
New York: Random House, 1965. First Edition. McCarthy's first book, set during the inter-War period within a small, isolated town in Eastern Tennessee. The book won the Faulkner Foundation Award for Best First Novel of the Year, and while it was successful enough to go into a second printing, only around 3,000 copies were sold in total. This copy belonged to Tennessee author, critic, and Southern fiction scholar David Madden, whose 1979 novel The Suicide's Wife was a Pulitzer Prize nominee. Madden wrote one of the earliest reviews of McCarthy's novel for the Literary Annual (1966). His interaction with the text is both extensive and insightful, and on numerous occasions he draws clear parallels between McCarthy's writing and the work and influence of William Faulkner. The volume is annotated in five colors of ink, and it's clear that this is a work Madden would revisit over the course of four decades. A true reviewer's copy, connecting two of the 20th century's most prominent Tennessee authors. First… Leer más

New York: Random House, 1968. First edition of the author's second novel. Octavo, original half cloth. Boldly signed by Cormac McCarthy on the front free endpaper. Fine in a near fine price-clipped dust jacket. Jacket design by Muriel Nasser. A superior example. Outer Dark is a novel at once mythic and starkly evocative, set in an unspecified place in Appalachia sometime around the turn of the century. A woman bears her brother's child, a boy; the brother leaves the baby in the woods and tells her he died of natural causes. Discovering her brother's lie, she sets forth alone to find her son. Both brother and sister wander separately through a countryside being scourged by three terrifying and elusive strangers, headlong toward an eerie, apocalyptic resolution. "A profound parable that ultimately speaks to any society in any time" (Time).
