War Department Technical Regulations, TR 1170-65, for airplanes produced for the Air Corps. Material and construction standards for Army airplanes in 1929. 54 pages. Original publication, not a copy.

London: T Egerton, 1795 edition. xxiv and 458 pages. 16 folding plates. An excellent copy in contemporary tree calf. The 1792 Regulations prescribed a new drill which the Duke of York ordered to be distributed to all officers. It formed the basis of infantry movements throughout the Napoleonic Wars. It is unusual to find an eighteenth century training manual in such good condition.

London: George Eyre and William Spottiswoode, 1859. xxv and 389 pages. Key and 48 plates. A near fine copy in the publisher's blind stamped red cloth with marbled endpapers. Includes manual and platoon exercise for long and short rifles. Parker's 8 page list of 'official and standard books for the army' bound in at the front.

London: J Millan, 1767 second edition. 32 pages. 32 plates coloured by hand on 20 sheets many of which are folding. Later full calf. The second edition was much enlarged. Houlding comments 'This small drill book laid out a series of manoeuvres for the battalion, most of which were described in the 1764 Regulations, but which were here performed in a fashion more sophisticated than that laid down in the regulations.'

New York: Army and Navy Journal, 1903. fair to good. Pocket-size, 97, wraps, index, covers somewhat soiled and stained, some wear to spine edges. Scarce manual, immediately post-Spanish-American War. Pocket-size manual measures approximately 3-3/4" x 5"

Francois Jarry, an officer of the Prussian army under Frederick the Great, went to England after the battle of Jena and became commandant of the Royal Military College. Contemporary calf neatly rebacked; inner hinges strenthened; a few scuff marks on the boards; neat RUSI blind stamp on the titlepage and ms inscription 'from the author', A free translation of relevant parts of Anton von Meldegg's (1766-1838) treatise on army manoeuvres which was first published in Munich in 1818.

Paris: Desaint et Saillant, 1759. xv and 267 pages, 10 folding plates. Small 8vo. Contemporary mottled calf, spine gilt, extremities and corners very slightly rubbed, a fine copy. Based on Le Cointe's experiences in the War of the Austrian Succession during which he served under Conti in Piedmont. His book was designed for non-specialist infantry officers and concerns the fortification of villages and buildings and the conduct of outposts.

London: T Egerton for the War Office, 1799. 7 pages and 181 pages incorporating folding muster rolls and specimen subsistence returns. 18th Century tree calf; one hinge tender, a little minor pitting and scuffing of the covers, an unusually good copy. The principal sections deal with baggage and marches, barracks, and recruiting.
