Illustrated with 363 illustrations including 25 beautiful full color tipped in plates along with 100's of illustrations in black and white and sepia. Comes with a small 20pg. Supplement in English. The covers are printed with a japanese motif on deep purple texted cloth along with nice designed endsheets. Set in a very handsome heavy cardboard slipcase. Not dated but most likely from the early 60's. Very uncommon. Fine in a fine slipcase.

Also included is a nice 12pg. program for the exhibit Katharine Hepburn Dressed For Stage and Screen. Well illustrated. Fine.

Also included is an original playbill from "Without Love". The play was written by Philip Barry, and Hepburn recreated her role in the film version opposite Spencer Tracy. It was not a hit. The Playbill has a photo of the very beautiful Hepburn along side her co-star in the production, Elliott Nugent, who by all accounts Ms. Hepburn could not stand. Fine. Also included is a playbill from the original Broadway production of "The Philadelphia Story' which starred Ms. Hepburn and was the beginning of her big comeback. From later in the run but with the original cast. Several small pictures of Hepburn inside, the cover is illustrated with a cartoon like drawing of the cast standing on top of a typewriter. Vg. New York: Hurock Productions, 1943. Paper. Very nice matted Hirschfeld color original herald for a Katherine Dunham dance revue titled "Tropical Revue" that played on Broadway in 1943. The herald is loosly matted along with a card that was signed by Katherine Dunham in 1979. The herald has faint edge staining from the old masking tape that was used to tape the herald to the mat otherwise vg. and lovely.

Berlin: Benedikt Taschen Verlag, 1991. 1st Edition . Oblong Paper. Beautiful activity book of 11 objects and boxes designed by the Japanese designer Katsu Kimura for you to put together. Printed on heavy stock paper in full bright colors, each object comes with directions for assembling. One circle on one box has been punched out already, otherwise the book is fine, complete and unused. Unusual.

Hollywood: Paramount, 1931. 1st American Edition . Paper. Superb 8" x 10" b&w glamorous studio portrait of Kay Francis, by the great studio photographer Gene Robert Richee. Portrait was taken for publicity for the film "Vice Squard" a Paramount programmer, that still got the "star treatment." Francis is wearing a costume from the film, and is half sitting on the arm of a chair, set against an art deco background. Richee's studio stamp on verso along with stamped caption. Fine.

Collects excerpts from several of his novels including "The Arrangement" and "The Assassins" along with the complete text of "America America" and essays "What A Film Director Needs To Know" & "Reverence Is Not An Artistic Emotion." Rubbing and a few tears to the dustjacket. Vg+/vg. A nice inscribed copy by one of the leading lights of the American theatre and also Hollywood.

Illustrated with many stunning bold full color drawings along with many two color drawings. The illustratd boards is fine, spotless and sharip, the dustjacket with the same design as the covers is also vg+ with very little wear, the book itself is amazingly fine, and sharp. Neat former owner signature on the front pastedown. A stunning copy.
