FIRST EDITION (1911), small format, approximately 92 x 70 mm, 3½ x 2¾ inches, coloured frontispiece of little girl talking to little bird, green vignette and lettering on title page, text printed green throughout, 32 pages, bound in original publisher's red boards, large colour plate mounted on upper cover with title, floral patterned endpapers in mauve and green. Lower cover marked and lacking a piece of surface paper 65 x 10 mm (2½" x ½" - see image), tiny slight stain to upper corner of upper cover, light vertical crease at fore-edge margin to a couple of pages, contents clean. Large postcard (130 x 192 mm, 5¼" x 7½") with design by Steadman on recto of 20 small caricature portraits of the Queen, most with a corgi dog, printed as though black and white photo portraits on a black background. Steadman's Old Loose Court address stamped on reverse in top right corner. Dated 26.6.81 and hand written in ink by the artist: "Dear Colin Huggett, Many thanks for your request. I'm afraid I'm not selling at the moment. As a consolation please accept the enclosed print from Alice in Wonderland (1967). Yours Ralph Steadman". Steam Press was the name of the printing and publishing enterprise run by Steadman himself from Kensington Church Walk, London.
