Sharp New and Revised Edition, originally published in 1885. Bound in publisher's deep maroon cloth with titles and coin motif stamped in gilt on front board. Titles in gilt on spine. Illustrated with numerous portraits and reproduction of coins. Square, tight and quite clean throughout save some minor toning to top page edge. Some plates have a bit of foxing to edges but quite light and scattered. A touch of wear to spine ends and even less on tips. Spotting to the spine is main flaw. Still, a handsome, solid collectable copy.

It contains accurate information about the history of the Mint as well as coin making procedures. Binding heavily rubbed. Head and tail of spine slightly frayed. Two pertinent newspaper clips pasted on inside of front cover and front free endpaper. Previous owner's blind stamp (John G. Buxton - Redondo Beach - California) on front free endpaper and at verso of frontispiece. Binding in overall fair, interior in very good condition.
