Bound in blue cloth with elaborate gilt lettering and design on front cover, gilt lettering on spine. Designed and printed by Lawton and Alfred Kennedy. The illustrations are by Louis Choris, who served as artist with the Kotzebue expedition during its visit to the bay in 1816. This copy remains sealed in a plain cardboard shipping box, closed with paper tape since 1971. The copy was bought from a Los Angeles bookseller who himself acquired the copy directly from Howell Books.
