Pages are lightly tanned and thumbed at the edges, with light foxing. Binding has remained firm. Moderate tape marks to endpapers and pastedowns. Boards are a little rub worn, slight shelf wear to corners, spine and edges. Corners are a little bumped. Spine ends are mildly crushed. Light tanning to spine and edges. Light wear to unclipped dust jacket with tears, nicks and creases to spine, edge and corners. Protected by plastic wrapper.

Light thumb marking, foxing and tanning to pages and plates. More prominent to text block edges, pastedowns and free endpapers. Light cracking to gutters; some looseness to binding but pages remain attached. Boards have minor corner bumping and edgewear with noticeable staining, tanning and scuffing overall. Spine has heavier tanning with soft crushing to ends. Lettering remains bright and clear. Book has a slight forward lean.

His father, Alfred Heaton Cooper, was also a landscape painter.This work has been signed by the author to the half title page.Profusely illustrated with sixteen colour plates, which are all present, and eighty-seven drawings by the author.
