A New Naturalist Special Volume. 192 pages, with 27 b&w photos and 24 text figures. 4th impression (first published in 1959).
Overall in very good condition. Dust jacket is within a cellophane wrapper and has been price clipped. Green cloth boards have minor signs of wear; gilt lettering on spine. Pages are unmarked except for some spotting on top edge of text block.

New York: Harper & Brothers, 1959. Hardcover. Good/Good. Ex-library, with usual markings. Pages are tanning from age. Aqua colored cloth boards moderately turquoise discolored. Inside front and back covers, and first and last few pages, moderately stained. Front return slip unglued, leaving stains in it's outline. Text block browned from age. Inside, back, and flaps of jacket are significantly foxed. Front jacket light moderate staining. A 1 cm by 2 cm square cutout bottom spine of jacket, where library numbers should be. Besides the heavy staining, book is in good condition, with no heavy wear. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

Moderate foxing to front/rear pages, but body of book mostly clean. Dust Jacket price-clipped. Edges foxed and browned. Now protected in non-adhesive plastic wrap..

Illustrated, small octavo, pp xvi, 192, immaculate condition internally, green cloth, the very slightest suggestion of fading round the edges, otherwise very good, in a price-clipped dustwrapper which is very slightly marked on its lower cover. The dustwrapper seems very slightly small for the book; this would seem to be the Second Variant of the fourth impression - Bernhard & Loe M16D-B2. A very good copy.. Very Good/Very Good.

New Naturalist Monograph no. 16. 27 b/w plates. 24 diagrams. A study of the salmon's life stages. Detailed sections on spawning and homing, and a most interesting conclusion by the eminent author that salmon do not feed in fresh water. This raises an interesting question for those who indulge in fly-fishing! This book beautifully describes the strange and mysterious life history of the salmon. Some spotting to covers. Pale foxing to endpapers and outer page edges. Previous owners bookplate stuck to front pastedown. Wrapper is unevenly browned.
