A strip of pretty, cancelled French postage stamps from 1995, featuring illustrations of La Fontaine's Fables, laid in by former owner and conveys with this book.

London: Oxford University Press, Humphrey Milford, 1928. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. 1928 first edition in this format. Size 12mo, 7.25" tall, 71 pages. Green hard cover with darker green cloth spine section. Red titles to front cover and red titles on paper title label on the spine, upper and outer page edges rough trimmed. Condition very good, corners, edges and spine ends rubbed, paper title label on spine sunned and toned, slight toning to the unevenly cut page edges, pencil note on the page after the copyright page where the author has written "On the whole I think I like "The Two Men and the Bear" the best of all. And which do you? R.C." Other than that the pages are very clean throughout. Also loosely inserted at the rear a spare paper title label for the spine which is in fine clean bright condition.
