The book and its contents are in generally clean condition. The orange covers have several spots of ground-in dirt. There are three small rings of white discoloration to the front cover. There is fading to the spine and spots of rubbing and light fraying to the spine ends. The text pages are generally clean and bright. .

Jacket lists 9 of the 10 Tom Swift titles Whitman reprinted. Plain end papers, with prior owner's name in pencil. Pages are clean and unmarked, on aging paper. Tom Swift and His Giant Magnet; or, Bringing Up the Lost Submarine (Tom Swift #35), by Howard R. Garis, writing as Victor Appleton. This is the last Tom Swift novel by the original author, who wrote the first 35 novels in the series. The remaining 5 books in the series were written by others. Tom invents a giant electromagnet to help process scrap iron, but it comes in handy when the Navy loses an experimental submarine.

Grosset & Dunlap, 1932. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good Dust Jacket. This old book with dust jacket is clean, solid and in great shape! This hardcover book with orange covers has 216 pages. The binding is strong with all pages firmly attached. There are two pages that show some light soiling. The pages are otherwise clean with no writing or tears. The copyright page shows 1932 as the published date. The dust jacket is over 99% intact with a 1/4-inch chip on the bottom of the spine, light edgewear and the lettering of the DJ spine is faded away (portrait of Tom Swift still present). I have placed the DJ in a fresh mylar jacket and this old book looks and feels great! We always ship in a sturdy cardboard box!

Dust jacket has Swift titles 1-35 (Magnet) on front flap and Sturdy titles 1 -11 (Ocean) on rear panel. Publisher ad at rear has Swift titles 1- 35 ending in Giant Magnet. Title list on copyright page lists 35 Tom Swift titles and 11 Don Sturdy titles. Very good book in fair dust jacket. Jacket has numerous chips and closed tears, including missing the top .25 inch at the top of the spine panel and the bottom 1 inch of the spine panel; now in new removable protective cover. The white on the spine and rear panel has darkened with age; and a prior owner has made pencil ticks on some of the titles on the Tom Swift list on the front flap.
