Paris: Artcurial, 2009. This is a very good 2 volume set with virtually no wear at all. Completely clean inside and out. No marks to lots or illustrations. Text in French and with English translations at the end of volume 1. These are sale catalogs an auction held at the Hotel Dassault in Paris by Artcurial on April 20-21, 2009. The sale consisted of Gerard Oury's collection. The first part of the sale, on April 20 had 38 lots of paintings and works of art on paper by Raoul Dufy. The second part of the sale had books illustrated by Dufy, also books about Dufy. Many were signed by Dufy and inscribed to Gerard or his mother Marcelle. The second part of the sale had 107 lots and also contained books by Chagall, Cocteau and others, many also signed and inscribed to Oury. Also some furniture. All lots illustrated in color. England: Golden Cockerel Press, 1933. This is a very good hardcover copy without dust jacket as issued, lacking slipcase. Completely clean inside and out, but for light offsetting to the endpapers. The mustard yellow cover cloth is slightly rippled, probably from the binder. The book was beautifully designed by Robert Gibbings and printed on a fine laid paper. 7 color illustrations after Hugh Thomson's originals. 13" high X 9" wide, 70 pages. Edges of boards lightly rubbed, top and bottom of spine worn. Otherwise quite clean inside and out. Text in German. 24 text pages followed by 19 double-page color lithograph plates with precise anatomical drawings of the various parts of the human body. Large folio, 13" high X 9" wide. Also dated in the year of publication and briefly inscribed to a well known collector on the colophon. Berlin: Verlag Volk Und Welt , 1954. This is a very good 2 volume set bound in gray cloth, titles in gilt. Completely clean inside and out, save for short neat small names on both front endpapers. Text in German. Illustrated with hundreds of Frans Masereel's woodcuts. The woodcuts and text are printed on a soft tan paper and the richness of the black woodcuts really stands out. Wonderful illustrated version of Charles de Coster's tale. 10" high X 7" wide, 359 & 436 pages. White silk pagemarks in both volumes present. . Cloth. Very Good.

This is a sale catalog for an auction held at Sotheby's New York on November 21, 1985. Sale code: 5396 "SCARLET". The sale included a number of imporatnt military costume books, one by Joseph Mansfeld is illustrated on the front cover. 36 lots in this part of the sale. 106 lots in the complete sale. The edges of the frontispiece are worn. 39 color plates (complete) accompanied by black & white illustrations on the facing pages. Malmo, Sweden: Galerie Borjeson , 1980. This is an about very good hardcover copy in a very good colorful dust jacket. Signed by the illustrator, Theo Tobiasse, in pencil on the front endpaper. Text in Swedish. Illustrated throughout in color. There are a few tan marks to the title-page, near the top and bottom edges. As if something were taped in at one time. Also a little yellowing to the front endpaper and pastedown, also a small black mark on the front endpaper. Otherwise clean throughout. 17 stories by Hans Christian Andersen, each with 1 full-page color plate by Theo Tobiasse. 8" high X 11" wide, 227 pages. With 2 original woodcuts by Heinrich Campendonk. They are printed on slightly heavier paper than the text pages, with tissue guards and full margins. They are printed with a rich chocolate brown ink, and are both in very nice condition. There are 12 other illustrations in sepia tones on different paper stock + the illustration on the front cover.
