Wraps. 94 pp. A collection of speeches given by Earl Browder upon his nomination as a Communist Party candidate for President of the United States in 1940. Browder cites instances of electoral corruption and fraud, and castigates Roosevelt for adopting Hitler-like policies and strategies in the elections. He also outlines Communist Party platforms and advocates for an expansion of many of Roosevelt's programs, all that would help the average worker and farmer. Earl Browder was an activist and leader in various socialist organizations, as well as the Communist Party USA, jailed several times for some of his activities, and eventually, with the declassification of Soviet documents, revealed to be a recruiting agent at one point for the USSR (Wikipedia). Montreal, Canada: Our Generation Press, 1972. Wraps. Good. Side stapled newsprint journal. Quarto. 36 pp. A single issue of this Canadian journal devoted to anarchist and radical issues. This with a lengthy discussion of democracy and parliamentary politics by Gerry Hunnius. Also featured is a timeline and history/recap of the May 1972 general strike in Quebec. Our Generation was published from 1961 to 1994, focusing on anarchist causes, philosophy and ideals. GOOD condition. Moderate to heavy uneven browning. Some wrinkling. Minor soiling.

No Place: No publisher, 1915. Original Wraps. Good. Wraps, with a photo of Taft on the front cover. 11pp. A speech delivered by Taft in which he addresses the role of America in world events, as through the context of World War I. Taft cites America's recent war with Spain and the adherence of the United States to the Monroe Doctrine. Taft also cites the U.S. involvement in Mexico, as well as discrimination against the Japanese, as well as discussing U.S. obligations to help allied countries in World War I, a national defense and submarine warfare, among other topics, eventually arguing for an International Peace League that could arbitrate disputes between nations. In GOOD+ condition. Covers faded with minor soiling and some creasing, a bit heavier to the rear wrap. Short note in ink to the lower front cover. Interior clean and solid with minor toning to the paper.

No Place: Issued by the Democratic National Committee. Original Wraps. Good. Issued by the Democratic National Committee. No place or date. Circa 1940. Pamphlet with an illustrated front cover. 12pp. With a two page photo of the Wilson Dam. A pamphlet issued by the Democratic National Committee attacking Willkie's management of the Commonwealth and Southern Corporation, which found itself in competition with Roosevelt's Tennessee Valley Authority, both of which sought to supply power to the South. Among other items, the pamphlet alleges the construction of spite lines put up by Commonwealth and Southern Corporation to compete with the TVA, obstructing TVA construction and misleading consumers. GOOD+ condition. Two fold creases present, with minor toning to the paper. Light creasing and edgewear. A staple present at the upper left corner, which has rusted.

New York: Socialist Workers 1976 National Campaign Committee, Publisher, 1976. Wraps. Very Good. Oblong booklet. 16 pp. A few black and white photos present. Printed on newsprint type paper. A booklet promoting the Socialist Workers Party candidates for president (Peter Camejo) and vice-president (Willie Mae Reid), addressing their party's proposal for a bill of rights for workers, outlining the ten objectives and how those goals would be achieved. VERY GOOD condition. Minor to moderate toning to the paper.

New York: National Progressive Party, Publisher. Pamphlet. Good. no date, presumed early 1900s. Pamphlet. 8 pp. A piece issued by the National Progressive Party in favor of Theodore Roosevelt and his reelection as president. The work highlights many of the pro-labor initiatives and efforts Roosevelt undertook as both a politician at the state level and the national level. The National Progressive Party is presumably the Progressive Party formed by Roosevelt in 1912 to support his independent run for president. Due to infighting and fracturing, the party dissolved by 1916 GOOD+ condition. Some wrinkling, minor creasing and toning to the piece.

Miami Beach, FL: The Miami Conventions Coalition/Youth International Party, presumed Publishers. Tabloid. Good. no date, presumed 1972. Tabloid newspaper format. 12 pp. Photos and illustrations throughout. An underground newspaper style piece issued to coincide with the 1972 Republican National Convention. The paper focuses on Nixon and the Republican's response (or not) to various issues, including the Vietnam War. It ties the use of police force to repress protests with the US military intervention in Vietnam. Also included is a look at how Republican policies affect the gay and lesbian community, the Miami Women's Coalition, etc. One page features a photo of activist George Jackson, with three quarters of the page seemingly containing an excerpt from his book, with mention of his and Fred Hampton's murders as being politically based. GOOD condition. Paper browned. Minor wrinkling and creasing, with heavy creasing at the lower corners. Small tear at the front page fore edge.

No Place: US Department of State, Presumed Publisher, 1945. Pamphlet. Good. Side folding brochure/booklet. Narrow pamphlet. 12 pp. An excerpt of a report to the US President, by Edward R. Stettinius Jr., the US Secretary of State under Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Harry Truman. This letter discusses the outcome of the United Nations Conference in San Francisco, as of June 26, 1945, outlining the hopes for international cooperation that would prevent future world wars, and highlighting agreements reached. This conference led to the establishment of the United Nations in October of 1945. GOOD+ condition. Some toning, minor wrinkling and creasing.

A pinback promoting Willie Mae Reid for Vice-President of the United States. Reid, a politician and author, ran for the office in 1976, with Peter Camejo running for president. VERY GOOD+ condition. Very light toning.

A newsletter for the Political Action Information Service, a group formed to coordinate various research projects related to peace concerned election campaigns (from the rear page). This issue reports on freshman senator George McGovern and his protest in the Senate over the size of the defense budget, discussion of the test ban, the FCC ruling that affected the radical right, etc. GOOD condition. Mailing label of Richard O. Hathaway present, perhaps the Vermont based historian. Fold creases present. Some staining from the staples. Minor soiling and curling.
