With mylar protector.

Very Good/Good. 359 pp. 'Kansas Irish' is the first in Driscoll's trilogy of the immigrant experience: homesteading and growing up on a farm in Kansas. Discoloration along gutters of spine mar an otherwise near fine copy. Dust jacket spine faded, with frayed edges, inside front flap corners clipped but publisher's price of $2.50 remains.

Reprint of two Atlantic Monthly articles of 1882, which detailed ethnologist Cushing's harrowing journey to visit the Havasupai Indians in Grand Canyon. Foreword by Robt. C. Euler.

White Publishing eventually assigned their rights to Norfleet, and on later copies, a label to that effect was pasted on the title page. Black & white frontis and 8 plates. Publisher's advertising/order sheet from White publishing laid in. The 'book of the century' is described in the florid language of the 1920's; the blurb also notes that, "profits from the sale of this extraordinary book go to help replenish Mr. Norfleets life savings." Rear hinge starting.

NY: Harper & Bros., 1874. Cloth. Good+/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. 256pp, maps, engravings. Green cloth, gilt titles. Edges are rubbed, top/bottom of spine cloth worn, rear panel & top edge with a few stains; interior is clean, tight, sound throughout. The first 100pp deal with Hawaii & are very interesting; many illustrations (including one of surfing !).

Minor rubbing/soil to backstrip, upper edge bumped slightly affecting some pages, else near fine throughout. An attractive copy.

Los Angeles: Westernlore Press, 1961. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. Don Louis Perceval. 358 pp. With index. Tan cloth, spine title gilt, decoration of trees blind-stamped on front board. Illustrated, with maps, b&w photographs. Lower corners bumped. Price-intact dustjacket is lightly sunned. From the library of John Michael Hayes, with his signature on the front free endpaper. Hayes wrote the screenplay and collaborated with Alfred Hitchcock on four films: Rear Window, To Catch a Thief, The Trouble with Harry, and The Man Who Knew Too Much. He had a career writing for radio, television, and film that spanned five decades. The film scripts for Peyton Place (nonimated for an Oscar) and Butterfield 8 are among his other credits. VG in VG dust jacket.

Stories are set in South Africa, the Kalahari, Colorado, and Arizona. Light edgewear, light foxing. Very Good.
