Some rubbing to the gilt HD on front board, binding just starting to split after last page of text, but otherwise otherwise a good clean copy of this hard-cover book. The story of the 1st Battalion Gordon Highlanders from the Normandy landings in July 1944 up to April 1945, when the battalion was in the vicinity of Bremen, NW Germany. The author was Battalion commander at the time. 1946 on title page and rev, with no other dates or printings given, so probably a first printing from April (there was a reprint in June the same year). 287pp, 9 maps and a few small b&w drawings of tanks.. Originally published in 1992, the author's account of his Warime experiences as a junior officer in the Wehrmacht during WW2. He served in France, Italy and on the Eastern Front, being caprured by the Soviets at Berlin at the end of the War. He spent the next five years as a PoW. 384pp, 8pp b&w illustrations.. Very slight bumping to spine ends of blue boards, a (South African) bookseller's label inside front board, but otherwise a good clean tight copy of this hard-cover book. A history of 609 (West Riding) Squadron of the Royal Air Force, from its formation in 1936 as part of the Auxiliary Air Force, through the Second World War. A final chapter deals with the post-War squadron, which was disbanded in 1957. The author was Intelligence Officer in the unit between 1941 and 1944. 352pp, 24pp b&w illustrations. . First Edition. The author's memories of her childhood (aged between five and ten) in northern Norway under German occupation during WW2. No author given, but was a Lieutenant-Colonel G R Stephens, according to the 2014 reprint of the book. Deals with the adventures of Norwegian resistance fighter Jan Baalsrud, the sole survivor of a group of twelve men intending to sabotage a German air base, whose boat was sunk by the Germans off Toftefjord in the far north of Norway in March 1942. He eventually made it to Sweden eighty days later. Originally published in May 1955, this is a book club edition from 1957 issued by the Reprint Society. 211pp, 23 b&w illustrations and a map..
