In 1838 and 1839, painter David Roberts traveled throughout Egypt and across the Sinai Peninsula to Petra, Jerusalem, and Palestine. The sketches and paintings he produced during these trips roused enormous curiosity about these regions, and won Roberts fame that endures to this day. This oversized slipcased package presents 240 color plates of his original artwork in two linen-bound volumes, accompanied by commentary and extracts from his journals.
