The Negus family firm were proprietors of Maritime Chronometers and Nautical Instruments, with Robert Perry taking one to the North Pole, and Richard E. Byrd taking a Negus Chronometer to the South Pole. The firm was founded in 1848 and continued until 1963, being passed down through the family over generations.
