Trade paperback. Some shelf-wear, in the form of rubs and chips on the cover (mostly on the back cover). Pages pristine, clean, tight, and intact. 193 pages, containing 14 essays on the human condition, most adapted from talks and lectures given between 1984 and 1992. Elegant, entertaining and informative, these essays are very enjoyable reads.

An entertaining tour through the 23 pairs of genes in the human genome. Book is almost like new, with very little shelf-wear. First U. S. edition.

Little wear other than a 1 cm tear at the top left corner of the front cover. A discussion of a number of the scientific issues facing us today. Scholarly and well researched, the final 99 pages consist of an appendix, references and notes, acknowledgements and an index. Real science to counter the epidemic of misinformation and science denial that floods our world today. Somewhat scarce. This book was marked for sale only in the Indian subcontinent, but heck, it's here now.

Little wear. A tiny crease at the upper right front corner. with a larger crease on the rear of that same corner. A slight bend to the lower right corner of the book, evidenced by a lift of 3-4 mm when set on its back on a flat surface. Pages are clean, tight and unmarked, with red dyed edges all around. The spine is square and uncreased. Filled with black and white and color drawings by the author.

Some wear at the corners away from the spine, the worst of it shown in photo #4. The back cover has a bit of wear along the top edge. No spine creases and the pages are clean, tight and intact. All about the critters that live on or in us. Filled with colorful micrographs of both the light and electron varieties. If you can get over the "ick" factor, this is a fascinating and informative book.

Almost new. This book pokes fun at people who research weird and unnecessary stuff. A few of their targets are off base, as I know someone who did a Masters Thesis on roadkill, I can see a use for a bit of the research, but most cases are spot on. And unlike the Darwin awards, most everybody here survives.

A collection of high school level lab experiments in physics, 65 in total. From a time before hand calculators, so features use of trig and logarithm tables and slide rules. A bored student experimented with a ball point pen on the cover, but there are only a few pencil marks inside the text. These are primarily calculations related to 3-4 experiments with lenses. Trade paperback. A few chips and rubs on the cover, spine uncreased. One of my favorite essayists on biology and science in general. When I first came across this book, is was shelved with music books, but Mahler is just background noise to the wonderful ideas and observations contained within these essays. 168 clean, bright, intact pages.

A collection of 29 essays on various aspects of biology. Thomas is an excellent writer that brings his knowledge of science into clear focus for any and all readers. As any good scientist should be, Thomas is an accomplished observer.Book shows little wear. Owner's name and brief inscription inside front cover. White cover is a little yellowed along the spine. Said spine is free of creases. 180 pages.

Shows some wear, but the cloth cover has not worn through to the boards. Pages are clean, tight and mostly unmarked. Owner's name is inside the front cover, and there is a small bit of underlining on the first few pages before the owner seems to have grown tired of it. Not a physics book, per se, but a little more. Units cover topics such as Astronomy, Matter as Energy, States of Matter, Forms of Energy, Weather, and Geology. Used as a textbook at Central Washington College in the early 1950s. Not many copies on the market.
