Paris: Ch.Chardin, 1930. Pamphlet. 8p., numerous b&w photos/artists' renderings of electrical devices (stored neatly or in use), a few patients photographed or sketched, semi-glazed alkaline paperstock. No merely manual techniques are shown (compiler recommends a book for that), instead, everything shown is electrically enhanced: "air chaud et froid, vibro-masseurs w/accessories, manu-vibrateur, massage electrique de haute frequence, maigro-masseur, massage faradique ou d'induction (par piles), table de massage".. there is text besides the lengthy captionings. Condition: pretty good, pace a bit of edgewear, dust-soil and corner-tip creasing externally, and crimpings throughout the ads. Sound enough, and unmarked except for an old dealership code in pencil. Let's describe it as "good", meaning "good only" Our dating is based on the lot it turned up in, and the fact that the cover design looks "art deco" - though the various machines look prehistoric. New York: The Macmillan Company, 1932. Hardcover. 231p., lightly shelfworn hardcover in very good condition with a heavily chipped and stained dj. An analysis of the electrical industry, meant to defend it against "the brunt of the attack of the collectivists.

Milano: Fratelli Treves, Editori, 1881. Hardcover. 320p., a rebound folio in 15x11 inch cloth boards with both covers and the complete spine panel laid down on brownish-purple fabric (an opportunity to use the word "puce"), utilitarian but skilled, compatible endsheets, item rather worn at this point in time but still has strong hinges. Original covers were probably from a softbound and have transferred well, while the spine panel is abraded and has received a coat of glaze. Enough about the outside, it is the inside that impresses; following a plat map of the site in monochrome terra-cotta, every two leaves of text alternate with splendid large steel engravings, doublespreads are common. The majority of images are cut crystal-clear, like a modern Piero della Francesca, of enormous machines and interiors and people, and not infrequently are instead moody and dusky on purpose like a Turner. Lisboa: Agência-Geral do Ultramar, 1972. 18p., 5.75x8.25 inches, text in Portuguese, very good in original stapled stiff wraps. Report on the construction of an electric plant in Mozambique.

Chicago: Popular Mechanics Press, 1952. Magazine. 171p., square-back magazine format in 9.5x6.5 inch color wraps, lots of b&w photos in a running text, presswork in both black and blue inks. Slightest edgewear with a minute chip to spine-panel tail, a nearly pristine copy with no other damage without or within, sound, clean and unmarked.

San Francisco: Power to the People, 1988. Single 8.5x11 inch handbill/press release printed one side only on bright yellow stock, very good. Single sheet press release concerning the Annual Meeting of Shareholders of PG&E. Call for a rally to protest the power company and to gather signatures to place what became the Hetch Hetchy intiative Proposition Z which would create a MUD. Included in the protest were Grass Roots, TURN and Sadie, Sadie, the Rabbi Lady aka Gilbert Block, a Sister of Perpetual Indulgence.

n.p.: n.pub, [197-]. Pinback Button. 1.75 inch diameter pin, raised fist grasping lightning bolts, orange background. No issuer stated, but union bug states East Bay (California).

Washington DC: GPO, 1915. Paperback. 125p., illustrated with plates and diagrams, softbound in 9x6 inch plain printed grey wraps. Excellent copy with one flaw (aesthetic as much as a problematic weakness), the front cover has pulled back about an eighth of an inch from textblock all along its length --the wraps now revealing spine's glued area in this gap-- and yes, weakened but without any immediate danger of further damage. Spine panel also has two dings. Textblock itself is quite sound, this a good copy verging on the very good. Dept Interior, Bureau of Mines, bulletin 80. Enormously detailed; in the calendar year preceding compilation, 130 miners were killed and 250 seriously injured, and here is one of the government's responses.

Flushing, NY: Brotherhood of Utility Employees of America, Queens Local 103, 1936. 4p., 8.5x11 inches, right edge worn. Not found in OCLC as of August 2023. Updates on utility union organizing and strikes, not only locally, but around the country. One cover story notes that the union had delayed a strike so that it would not impact people on Christmas. Another brief piece notes that the company-backed union in Queens had only 17 members.

New York: Copper & Brass Research Association, 1939. Pamphlet. [16]p., glazed paperstock printed double-column, illustrated with numerous b&w vignette-size illustrations period and photographic. Dusty creased 10x7.5 inch wraps, generally sound, dust is external not within, no underlines or any other markings, but find some foxing and a parted adhesion at 14/15 (glaze disturbed but no loss of text). A good copy.
