Descripción:
London & San Juan, Puerto Rico: Children of God, (1974). 8vo, 9 & 4 pp. plus covers. Publisher's pictorial wraps. OCLC locates a single copy published in Sydney, Australia without the appended, separately paginated "Dropouts!" (accession number 897210517; University of Melbourne). Soft vertical crease throughout, toned, modest edge wear, otherwise very good. The notorious David Berg (1919 - 1994) founded a Christian cult in 1968 originally known as "Teens for Christ," later "Children of God, " and currently "The Family International." Finding adherents among counterculture youth in Southern California, Berg promoted the concept of "Flirty Fishing," defined by the Urban Dictionary as "a form of religious prostitution practiced by the Children of God from 1974 until it was officially discontinued in 1987 (due, in part, to the AIDS scare). Its etymology can be traced to Matthew 4:19 where Jesus says "Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men."

Pittsburgh: Know, Inc, no date [ca 1970] First separate printing, "revised from an article in the Newsletter of the New University Conference" A Fine uncirculated copy 4to (11" x 85"), broadsheet, 2 pages printed recto & verso on white paper.
A fine uncirculated copy. Author Nancy Henley, a feminist psychologist who demanded that the American Psychological Association "acknowledge its sexist practices and the androcentric and misogynistic theories about women that psychology had produced," writes in part: "Mixed groups that wish to discuss women's liberation often begin with a discussion of the ways in which WL will liberate men too, with a focus on the bitchiness rather than the oppression of women: under the present system women are taught to be bitches, manipulating men, etc; if we off the system, women will be tolerable, and men will therefore be liberated." Quite uncommon, OCLC locates a single copy at the University of Michigan.

Enormously controversial in its day, Dr Sol Gordon's "Ten Facts," directed at adolescents, was the most popular of his "Zing Comix" series. By 1974, as the New York Times reports, 625,000 copies had been sold. Banned from general distribution at the State Fair in Syracuse, an appeal brought by the ACLU was denied in 1974 because, while not obscene, the publication "suggests that sodomy is acceptable and it surely condones and… Leer más
