In a good dust jacket with light soiling, two 3/4" deep chips to the bottom of the front panel and a 1" chip to the top of the rear panel. Jacket also has shallow chips to spine ends and corners and a few almost imperceptible closed tears to the edges. Rare in dust jacket.

(London): Folio Society, 2009. First edition thus: first printing of the Folio Society edition. A gorgeous production. Illustrated in color and black-and-white throughout with 14 beautiful full-page plates by de Harvaez (including frontis). Small 4to (approximately 10") bright green illustrated boards stamped in blue, black, gold, and white; top edge green; green endpapers illustrated in gold; 354 pages. Housed in publisher's matching green paper-covered slipcase with scalloped opening. Quite fine, virtually as new.

Housed in publisher's illustrated, paper-covered slipcase. Fine in fine dust jacket and slipcase with small tear and dent to upper back edge (otherwise fine).

London: Bloomsbury, (2003). First edition thus, a "Deluxe Edition" issued simultaneously with the first trade edition. 8vo maroon cloth lettered in gilt on front and spine, with front cover pictorial onlay, all edges gilt, and ribbon place marker. Issued without a dust jacket. Fine.

(London): Bloomsbury, (1999). First edition thus: scarce first printing of the Deluxe Edition. Reportedly one of only around 1,000 copies. The third book in the series but first to be printed in the deluxe edition. 8vo gilt-stamped green cloth with pictorial inset on front cover; all edges gilt; ribbon place marker. Bright and near fine with mild crease to fore edge text block. Issued without a dust jacket.

London: Bloomsbury, (1999). First edition of the Deluxe edition. The first three volumes in the series were issued in Bloomsbury's "deluxe" editions in 1999 (the latter 4 were issued simultaneous to the first trade editions).8vo light blue cloth lettered in gilt on front and spine, with front cover pictorial onlay, all edges gilt, and ribbon place marker. Near fine with hinge visible at title page and touch of very light rubbing to covers. Issued without a dust jacket.

Fine as issued (without a dust jacket). Sealed in the original shrinkwrap with publisher's "First Edition" label on back. HUGO WINNER

New York: Dodge Publishing Co., no-date [circa 1910]. First U.S. edition, from the London plates. Frank Adams' large colorful illustrations for a story by James Kendrew (Kendrew's story was originally self-published in 1820 as a chapbook with small, unattributed woodcuts). Quarto red paper boards backed with red cloth (vs green for the London edition); color plate pasted to front. Boards visible at corners, front hinge starting to split and rear hinge split; otherwise about good or better. A horrifying children's story, in this cataloger's opinion, of a hunter taking pleasure in killing birds to take home to his wife who, of course, does all the rest of the work. At least they eat the birds. Scarce.

[New York]: Harper & Brothers, (1952). First edition, later issue/printing? A nice copy of Sendak's fourth book. This has the black spine and "Grr-r-r" on page 23, both later per Hanrahan A4. But still has the $1.50 price. Fine in dust jacket with the barest wear and a small sticker shadow on back panel.

London: Oxford University Press, 1960. First edition. Children's book, edited by Avery and illustrated by Susan Einzig. Light offset to endpapers, otherwise fine in fine dust jacket. A very bright copy.

Philadelphia: David McKay Company, (1939). Beistle, Mary Alice.. First edition. Paper covering on boards rubbed in several small spots on edges and small "Property of ---" stamp on front free endpaper, otherwise near fine in dust jacket with tanned spine, a few small closed edge tears and a tiny hole in rear spine fold. A bright copy with black silhouette illustrations by Mary Alice Beistle.

Garden City, NY: Doubleday, Doran & Company, 1931. George Shanks.. First edition. Illustrated by George Shanks. Good to very good with inner hinges just beginning, spine toned, covers lightly soiled, spine ends beginning to wear, etc. Lacking dust jacket. Relatively scarce.

Philadephia: Macrae-Smith Company, (1927). First edition. AUTHOR'S FIRST BOOK. Illustrations in black-and-white and color by the author. Black cloth boards with gilt decoration and lettering to front and spine. A good copy with nice, bright illustrations. Spine lettering and gilt lambs on front cover fading, boards visible at corners, endpapers cracked but holding, short gift inscription on front endpaper, personal library notation along hinge of dedication page, few marginal smudges to color illustrations. Lacking dust jacket, if issued in one.

New York: Anti-Defamation League of B'nai B'rith, (1964). First edition thus: collecting seven stories previously published separately. Illustrations for each story and on front cover by Sendak. Stories deal with various situations or conflicts children might encounter and demonstrate ways to deal with them. Includes "On Your Mark," "Jacob's Friendliest Town," "The Crankiest Man on Main Street," "Down the Old Bear Trail," "Johnny Red Feather," "Lonesome Feet," and "The Secret." Small, white-and-yellow, faintly soiled pictorial paperwraps showing light creasing to page-top corners. Very good to near fine. Scarce issue. SCARCE FIRST COMBINED EDITION

New York: Harper & Row, (1979). Froud, Brian.. First U.S. edition. A children's book; iIllustrated by Brian Froud. Fine in fine dust jacket.

New York: Grosset & Dunlap, (1935). First edition, later printing. Though the copyright page states 1935, the actually date of publication for this copy is 1938 per Farah [1938B]. The twelfth book in the series and ninth by Benson. Very good or better with spine ends softened and small bookshop blindstamp on front endpaper. In about very good dust jacket with flattened creasing to head of spine and general nicks and tears. An attractive copy.

New York: Coward-McCann, Inc, (1947). First edition. Translated and illustrated by Wanda Gag. Her final work, which was published after her death. Small worn spot on front cover and two tiny holes and small scrape on rear spine gutter. It appears that the edges have been somewhat inexpertly touched up with slightly different colored dye, otherwise very good lacking dust jacket.

San Francisco: Grabhorn-Hoyem, 1970. First edition thus. Each brief Mother Goose rhyme is accompanied by a small but elaborately detailed illustration by Van Aver. Colophon states 300 copies but Harlan's Grabhorn-Hoyem bibliography notes there were only 200 copies and that of those only "a few" were bound in blue decorated boards. This copy is one of those few in blue but without the printed spine labels as called for by Harlan. 4to 1/4 medium-blue cloth with light-blue paper boards printed in darker blue. Cloth at spine slightly toned otherwise near fine.

New York: Doubleday, Page & Co., 1906. First U.S. edition and the first edition with illustrations by Rackham. A fantasy book for children with frontispiece and four full-page colored illustrations by Rackham tipped in. 8vo green cloth stamped in black and lettered in gilt; top edge gilt. Small hole in rear endpaper at hinge, which is starting at the final blank; otherwise very good to near fine with just a bit of rubbing to tips. Pages largely unopened.
