Descripción:
The Soyuz 10 was the world's first mission to the world's first space station, the Soviet Salyut 1 (launched on April 19). It was the first upgraded spacecraft with new docking mechanism, which allowed space station visits and internal crew transfer. The Soyuz 10 was launched to dock with Salyut 1 on April 22, 1971. Unfortunately, during docking the crew (Vladimir Shatalov, Aleksei Yeliseyev and Nikolai Rukavishnikov) faced with problems. The spacecraft failed to make a hard dock with the station and the undocking took more than a day. During the landing, the Soyuz air supply became toxic, and Nikolai Rukavishnikov was overcome and lost consciousness. The Soyuz 10 landed near Karaganda on April 24. It was the first night landing in the history of human spaceflights.

Descripción:
This photo album devoted to the construction of the Lower Svir Hydroelectric Station. According to the original project, three dams with hydroelectric power plants should have been built on the Svir River (the north-east from Leningrad). However only two of them were built. The construction started in 1927 and was headed by the engineer and one of the founders of the GOELRO plan Genrikh Graftio. In 1931 the concentration camp of Svirlag was established. Many convicts worked at the construction untill 1935. During WWII the dam was destroyed and restored after the war. The Upper Svir Hydroelectric Station was reopened only in 1952. The engineer Genrikh Graftio and Volodymyr Zatonsky, the member of the Central Control Commission, are on the last photo with photomontage. In 1937 Zatonsky was arrested and executed. The album was prepared for delegates of the 4th Hydrological Conference of the Baltic States, which took place on September 1933 in Leningrad. The conference was attended by 400 scientists from… Leer más

Most likely, the photograph depicts two Tuvan women, members of a Turco-Mongol ethnic group indigenous to Siberia, dressed in traditional costumes ("ton" robe). It is possible that the original image was taken during an ethnographic expedition in the late 19th century.Historically, during the Qing dynasty, the last imperial dynasty of China, Tuva was part of Outer Mongolia known as Tannu Uriankhai. However, in 1911, Tuva broke away and established the Uryankhay Republic following the Xinhai Revolution, which led to the formation of the Republic of China. In 1914, Tuva became a Russian protectorate and later evolved into the nominally independent Tuvan People's Republic in 1921, officially known as Tannu Tuva until 1926. This republic was recognized only by its neighboring countries, the Soviet Union and Mongolia. However, in 1944, Tannu Tuva was annexed by the Soviet Union.

Most likely, the second (bigger) photo is unknown. These photos depicted the crew of Rodina (Fatherland) aircraft which performed a non-stop flight between Moscow and the Sea of Okhotsk on September 25, 1938. The aircraft crew consisted of commander Valentina Grizodubova (1909-1993), co-pilot Polina Osipenko (1907-1939), and navigator Marina Raskova (1912-1943). During the flight lasting 26 hours 29 minutes, a female world was established aviation range record. In adverse weather condition and with the failed radio equipment the crew flew by and Khabarovsk, which originally was the final point of the route. The plane was land on the belly directly to the swamp. Before that, Marina Raskova jumped with a parachute, as she was in the navigator's glass-enclosed cockpit in the nose of the aircraft, which could seriously suffer during landing. The crew was found in the taiga only on October 3.On November 2 Grizodubova, Osipenko and Raskova become the first women who were awarded the title of Hero of the… Leer más

Rare.
This photograph captures the affluent bride from Samagaltay, a rural locality (selo) and the administrative center of the Tes-Khemsky District in Tuva, situated in southern Siberia. Samagaltay held the position of Tuva's capital until 1921. The bride is depicted inside a yurt, a customary circular tent that serves as a common dwelling, alongside a kitchen cupboard and a table adorned with a traditional teapot and piyala—a small bowl specifically used for drinking tea. Her hair is adorned with a chavaga, an exquisite piece of jewelry that holds great value and is typically passed down through generations. The bride wears the chavaga as a symbol of her transition into womanhood.During the Qing dynasty, the last imperial dynasty of China, Tuva was historically a part of Outer Mongolia known as Tannu Uriankhai. However, in 1911, Tuva broke away and formed the Uryankhay Republic after the Xinhai Revolution, which led to the creation of the Republic of China. In… Leer más
