Covers are rubbed and tanned with a few small tears and chips at edges and at head and tail of spine, jacket with French flaps attached to the spine. Endpapers are mottled. The text block is in two sections. The first 20 pages contain descriptions of the plates in French. These pages are age tanned but clean and unmarked. The second section contains 36 superb reproductions of alpine wildflowers paintings printed in full color on heavy stock. The edges of these pages are lightly tanned, 2 pages have mottling near the fore edge which does not intrude into the plate. All of the images are in very good condition and suitable for framing. This set is from a limited edition of 360 copies: V/I is number 176 and V/II is number 257. Previous owner bookplate on front endpapers. Many tipped-in plates and facsimiles of letters. Binding are loose with the book block lifting away from the front guard on V/I. Some faint pencil marks on a few pages.
