Wheaton, Illinois: Church League of America, 1965. Original illustrated broadside, folio (14" x 6.5"), single sheet printed recto only. Text in three columns.
Folded once horizontally, moderate edge wear, some creasing, tiny hole affecting a letter in Shackelford's name, lightly foxed & soiled, otherwise Good or better.
Reprints an article originally published in the Chicago Tribune on October 17, 1965. The Tribune, of course, was completely in favor of the Vietnam War & the article, while intended to stir up outrage, helpfully provides several methods of obtaining that coveted 4F draft status: "Play Homosexual," "Be an Epileptic," Bed-Wetting," etc. Rufus E. Shackelford, perhaps the largest tomato farmer in the United States, was on the Board of Directors of the Church League of America & was candidate for vice president in 1976 as the running mate of Thomas J. Anderson, a John Bircher. The ticket received a grand total of 158,724 votes.
