"New World Saints" - A collection of 25 hand-colored prints in triptychs by the artist Catherine Ferguson, with text by Spanish Colonial scholar Donna Pierce and pochoir by Palace Press staff was published by the Press of the Palace of Governors, Museum of New Mexico, in Santa Fe in 1995. Quoting from the description in The Palace Print Shop & Bindery,
"...The portfolio includes paper triptychs that serve as shrines for the prints of saints whose popularity either traveled from the Old World to the New or originated in the Americas. Arched tops of the triptychs are handsomely embossed with a traditional scallop design and the double doors carry a biographical sketch or mythology of each of the saints found inside. This richly colorful iconographic celebration, five years in the making, is housed in a hand-bound, arched-top box lined with Italian printed papers and gold foil."
"New World Saints" was designed and printed letterpress by Pamela Smith. The Portfolio text is set in Dante Monotype.… Leer más

Descripción:
Read before the Royal Society on January 26, 1749, "Remarks on the Principal Paintings found in the subterranean city of Herculaneum, and at present in the Possession of the King of Naples; by ____ Blondeau Esq; communicated by Tho. Stack, M. D. & F. R. S.", contains descriptions of paintings uncovered by the excavations of the destroyed city of Herculaneum. Thirty-two pictures are described, of which four are in very good condition and thoroughly described while the other 28 are briefly described.
Herculaneum was an ancient Roman town destroyed by volcanic pyroclastic flows in 79 A.D. It is located in the Italian region of Campania in the shadow of Mount Vesuvius. It is most famous for having been lost, along with Pompeii, Stabiae, Boscoreal and Oplontis, in the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79 which buried it in superheated pyroclastic material. It is also famous as one of the few ancient cities that can now be seen in almost its original splendor, because unlike Pompeii, its burial was so deep… Leer más

This Limited Edition copy (No. 1 of 25 copies) of "Robrt Frost's 10 Mills" by Malcolm Tarlofsky was Mr. Tarlofsky's student project in the art of book design and printing. In it, he selected ten verses from Section 2, "Ten Mills" of Robert Frost's 1937 book of verses titled "A Further Range" to use as the basis for the project. He then applied an artistic overview to the verse's title, added the text in clear type, and presented each verse on a separate page. He supplemented these pages with a paper cover, a front free end paper on which is a handwritten inscription that reads "To my dearest friend on his 24th Birthday 2/11/67", a dedication page, and a colophon page that reads "This book was designed and printed by Malcolm Tarlofsky. An edition of 25 was all set and done, March 1966. This being copy number: One".

Descripción:
This is the First Miniature Edition of The Second Tour of Doctor Syntax, In Search of Consolation; A Poem by William Combe and Illustrated by Thomas Rowlandson. It was published in 1823 in London by R. Ackermann. The book, which measures approximately 3 ½ x 5 ¾ inches, contains 277 pages plus 24 hand-colored plates. From 1809 to 1811, Mr. Combe wrote, for Ackermann's Poetical Magazine, the famous Tour of Dr Syntax In Search of the Picturesque (descriptive and moralizing verse of a somewhat doggerel type), which, owing greatly to Thomas Rowlandson's designs, was an immense success. It was published separately in 1812 and was followed by two similar Tours, "In Search of Consolation" and "In Search of a Wife", the first Mrs Syntax having died at the end of the first Tour.
The pages of the book are slightly tanned, with occasional foxing (particularly on the pages opposite the hand-colored plates). The covers are sturdy, with a little wear around the edges. Other than these shortcomings, the book is in… Leer más

The Nixon Galloway Aircraft Prints (United Airlines Collector Series) was a reward provided to the so-called "Executive Air Traveler" for his continued loyalty to United Airlines before the arrival of the "frequent-flier points" reward system. This set of fifteen (15) full color lithographs were all done by the renowned aircraft artist Nixon Galloway and represented historic aircraft that were associated with United and its predecessor companies.
The prints, suitable for framing, are all on a white background and measure approximately 11 x 8 ½ inches. Associated with each print is a 2 ½ x 7 inch card which provides a description of the aircraft, including a table of its Technical Data. Although there were apparently of total of 43 prints distributed throughout the United Airlines program, this offered lot consists of only 15 prints, of which one is a duplicate copy.
The aircraft prints in the lot are:
Aerial Mercury – 1926; Swallow Mailplane, C-6 – 1926; Pitcairn PA-5 "Mailwing" – 1927-1928;… Leer más
