Interior clean, and outer panels have rubbibg, edge wear, and the spine is wrinkled, with partial detachment (1") on lower end.

New York: Robert M. mcBride & Co, 1919. Small Quarto. Color frontispiece, 115pp., illustrated with photographs of old examples and American adaptations of the style. First published. This book was not written for the professional but simply for those who have an interest in house building or those who have in mind building for themselves. Bound in green pictorial cloth accented in white, red ad black, spine lettering white, two bumped corners, white is mostly rubbed off leaving gray as the color. A very good copy.

London, Nd(ca.1881): Ward, Lock & Tyler. Octavo. Second Edition, tewnty-seventh thousdand. 144 pp. (8)pp pubisher's ads, with 300 illustrations. Rich detailed drawings of cornices, platforms, engines, and the essentials of mechanical drawing. A remarkably nice copy, near fine, bound in pictorial gilt green embossed cloth, spine lettering gilt, endpapers are publisher's ads on yellow paper lettered in black, upper corner bumped. Very nice.

Rutland, Vermont; (1969): Charles E. Tuttle and Company. First Edition. Small Quarto. . Second printing. 46 pages, +79 pages of illustrations, six folded plates. Pages 23-48 are "Quotations from Frank Lloyd Wright", Bibliography on p. 125. One of the key works expressing Wright's philosophy integrating quotations from his autobiography with the twelve pages entitled 'Building Against Doomsday'. The author has included many of Wright's insights on the development of the 'prairie house' from his first 'yearing for simplicity' as 'organic' with planes parallel to earth. The hotel not only is among the most important of the early items by Wright or that it survived the 1923 earthquake and that Steen Rassmussen, Denmark's architectural-historian noted as the finest of Frank Lloyd Wright's works. A near fine copy bound in beige linen stamped in blind, spine lettering black, in a very good pictorial dust jacket lettered in red and black some light edge wear, price sticker to upper front flap.

Julia Morgan was the architect who designed and built William Randolf Hearst's famous and dazzling castle. She was also one of the first women to graduate in Civil Engineering from the university of California, Berkeley. Over her long career, she designed over 700 structures. This is the first book to celebrate the achievements of a remarkable woman of architecture. A fine copy bound in blue cloth, spine lettering gilt, in near fine pictorial dust jacket.

Santa Fe, New Mexico: Ancient City Press, 1961. First Edition. Folio. No pagination. Chiefly thirty three sketches and floorplans of adobe buildings followed by notes and how adobe plans were laid out. There was a cheap reprint done in 1986. William Lumpkins was an architect in La Jolla but in 1961 he went back to his earlier work in and around Santa Fe, New Mexico. He went back to large ranches where adobe was the standard, accepted building material. He also went to Lincoln, New Mexico with nearby Fort Stanton which was still a museum of Territorial Style. His dream was this book would turn to adobe (not the synthetic adobe, hollow tile, concrete block, brick covered with stucco to make a poor imitation of adobe) but the real material of the native earth and blending in the vast landscape of the Southwest. (Barnes, Adobe Bibliography). Plastic comb bound sift card wraps lettered and decorated in light and dark brown. Small stain to upper edge, light soiling to rear. A very good copy.

A pristine copy of a difficult to find item. Bound in light blue cloth, spine lettering white. A fine copy in equally fine pictorial dust jacket. The book is heavy and later issued in two paper copy editions.

Chicago, (1909): Frederick J. Drake & Company. Octavo. Frontispiece, 395 pages, [16] publisher's ads with illustrations, index, and notes: Over 450 illustrations and diagrams. Fred T. Hodgson had begun his career as a carpenter, eventually becoming notable for helping to popularize the small, bungalow-style houses of the first two decades of the 20th century. Hodgson, a Canadian from Collingwood in Ontario, was born in 1838. From 1878 to his death in 1919, Mr. Hodgson edited the American Builder, as well as writing and editing scores of books on carpentry, house building, and architectural design. A very handsome copy bound in blue pictorial cloth depicting the frame of a house in white within decorative black frame, lettering gilt and black spine somewhat faded, only small spots of rubbing. Very nice.
