Of special interest to me is the rear cover showing the 'Burpee's Big Boy' tomato new for 1949. Long one of my favorite tomatoes I didn't realize the variety was that old. Carpenter Paper Company. Kansas City. Topeka. Springfield, Mo. No Date (Circa 1950's-60's?), 1960 "Metal box in wood grain pattern containing seven individual books representing the product line for the Carpenter Paper Company. Box is about 12 1/2" wide by 7" tall by 9" deep. Seven individual catalogs numbered one through seven and each containing a part of the available product line. Box is separated into three compartments with a two books, three books, two books arrangement. Each book is covered in a maroon fabrikoid cloth with a stitched plastic window spine label. Each book is stamped on the front cover with the Carpenter Paper Company logo, name and the word "Samples". This catalog came from an old printing establishment in Missouri. Baker's Plays. Boston. No date but inside front cover states that this is a Wartime Catalog and thus half the usual size (Circa 1942-45)., 1942 Minimally color illustrated wraps. 160 pages. 8vo. More than 1500 plays of all types for sale from this publisher. All of the noted playwrights are listed here along with the prices for their work. The plays were inexpensive, the royalties not always so. Laid-in is an order envelope which has self sealed due to humidity over the years. Apparently originally published by the Association of American Portland Cement Manufacturers and made up from their sheets for Canadian use. Describes numerous highway jobs along with a photo, job specifications, costs, etc. Also covers other highway surfaces using concrete as a base. Some ten pages at the rear tabulate many jobs with type, number of square yards, costs, name of engineer, etc. Interesting look at quite early paved highway construction (Remembering that the U.S. did not really begin to get serious about paved highways until the 1930's) .
