This issue features two illustrations by Thomas Nast. One is a two-page, pro-Grant spread showing Lady Columbia with her hand covering her eyes and the other resting on a piece of paper with the message, "'Had I but served my God with half the zeal I served my country, He would not in mine age have left me naked to mine enemies.'" Also, spectacular two-page illustration by Thomas Nast showing a blindfolded Lady Justice being led by a devil figure to the edge of a cliff as God overlooks from his perch in the clouds holding an hour glass nearly empty. The caption reads, "' 'Tis the times' plague, when madmen lead the blind.' -- Shakspeare." The illustration is in remarkably bright condition and quite suitable for framing. Size is 16" wide and 22" tall. Full-page collage of illustrations by G.S.
