The exhibition is Pace's ninth major exhibition of work by the artist and the first since Pace began representing the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation earlier this year. The exhibition will examine the Anagram, Arcadian Retreat and Anagram (A Pun) series. These works were created beginning in the mid-1990s, a pivotal period for Rauschenberg as he developed and perfected a powerful new technique combining dye transfer with novel supports including plaster, large-scale paper and polylaminate panels. The resulting approach would inspire the artist's practice over the remainder of his life. A majority of the works included in the exhibition come from Rauschenberg's personal collection, which now makes up the holdings of the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation. After nearly a decade of photographing his extended brethren, the Seacoast's Michael Winters has self-published an anthology of his best and most beloved work, entitled "Friends and Muses." Designed by Matt Ralph of Plainspoke, this full-color, 200-page, hardcover collection of Michael Winters photography combines his highly stylized, cinematic imagery with elaborate costumery and wild coiffures alongside his equally captivating, albeit significantly more straightforward and austere, photos of couples in moments of peaceful repose. This body of work, mostly culled from the last five or six years of his photography, predominantly includes Winters' friends (dually functioning as his muses), many of whom are artists, musicians, writers, singers, dancers, chefs, butchers, and baristas throughout the Seacoast, transformed by the talents of stylists and make-up artists, and captured like a series of film stills hailing from the past, the present, and the future.

American Impressionism in the early twentieth century is laced with artists' names such as Childe Hassam, John Singer Sargent, Mary Cassatt and Frank Vincent DuMond. Frank Townsend Hutchens, a plein air painter of portraits, landscapes and figures, while skilled and prolific, remains a relatively unknown artist in the Impressionist movement. That is until now. William D. Hutchens, Frank Hutchens' great-nephew, has painstakingly reconstructed Hutchens' life through his letters, citations and artwork. Born in Canandaigua, Frank Hutchens studied at the Art Students League in New York as well as the Academie Julien and Academie Colarossi in Paris. He exhibited at noted museums and galleries including the Paris Salon, the Royal Academy in London, the Corcoran Gallery and the National Academy of Design. The first book on the drawings and works on paper of this legendary cult artist. Published on the occasion of an exhibition of the same name, Jean-Michel Basquiat Drawing is the first book on the Schorr Collection of Basquiat's works on paper. Jean-Michel Basquiat (1960-1988) was barely out of his teens when he rocketed to the center of New York's art scene; he was 27 when he died of a heroin overdose. A friend of Keith Haring and Andy Warhol, and always controversial, Basquiat is now established as a major contemporary painter whose unique work continues to enthrall. Herbert and Lenore Schorr began collecting the work of Basquiat in 1981, before his first New York exhibition. During the artist's seminal years of 1982-83, the Schorrs acquired several of his most important paintings, but in contrast to virtually every other early collector, the Schorrs also pursued and acquired a great number of works on paper both directly from the artist and from his first dealer. Issued in conjunction with a 2015 exhibition of colorful artwork by Quebec painter Jean Paul Riopelle (1923-2002) and by Spanish artist Joan Miró (1893-1983). With an essay by Emily Crowley and Esperanza Sobrino. The exhibition showed five large paintings by Riopelle and four sculpture pieces by Miró. All are illustrated here. Quite colorful.

PICASSO and Jacqueline: The Evolution of Style. 255 pages, illustrated throughout in color and b&w. 4to, boards.With photographs by David Douglas Duncan and an abundance of paintings, drawings, watercolors, lino cuts, and metal cut-outs, the Pace Gallery has captured the essence of Picasso's last twenty years in portraits of his second wife, Jacqueline Roque. This beautifully designed catalogue (the square format is pleasing to hold and offers a wider than average visual field for the works) gives full-page precedence to the images, with three brief, elegant essays bookending the plates.

Complementing an exhibit of the artist's work at the Taubman Museum in Roanoke, VA, this exquisitely rendered book - illustrated with 46 works of art by Annette Nancarrow - is excellent as a stand-alone reference, as well. As Rosemary Carstens notes in her foreword to this gorgeous book honoring the unique talents of artist Annette Nancarrow: "Throughout history, the spotlight of celebrity and recognition has often shown most brightly on male artists.
