Autobiographical account of Lawrence's experiences in the R.A.F. following the first World War when he joined under an assumed name. Published posthumously per T.E.L.'s instructions.Given the frankness of his observations, the 1955 trade edition was expunged with the limited edition containing the full, uncensored text. Note from the colophon: "The text of Lawrence's 1928 manuscript of 'The Mint' was first printed by Doubleday, Doran in 1936 in an edition of 50 copies to secure American copyright when the manuscript was sold."

A few scratches and smudges to images, paper protecting tape torn and chipped in places. Charming hand-painted slides depicting the story of Aladdin and his magical lamp, titled La Lampe Merveilleuse. Only one other set is known to exist, and it is incomplete (missing Slide 12); the other set is held in Girona's Museu de Cinema, which makes this set of slides the only extant copy in private hands (REFERENCE: Lucerna). The multi-scene panoramic slides were created by French magic lantern manufacturers Lapierre et Cie, and the slides would have likely been sold alongside the familys noteworthy magic lanterns, which were particularly marketed for families and educating children (REFERENCE: Lucerna). Loosely bound in tooled brown pigskin covering wooden boards, metal corner bosses, moire silk doublures. Just a touch of rubbing to the folder extremities, faint mostly marginal foxing to leaf. Sumptuous salute to Prussian statesman on his 80th birthday, five years after he resigned as chancellor of Germany, and three years before his death. This large congratulatory document was one of 450,000 letters and cards sent to Bismarck to celebrate his birthday, an event which cemented his legendary status in German history for his role in the founding of the Reich: One of the most significant manifestations of the gradual change in public perceptions of the Iron Chancellor were the celebrations in honor of Bismarcks 80th birthday in 1895. This album features a rare signature from Garfield during his tenure as sitting president: "James Garfield, May 6, 1881" is on the first leaf. Following leaves feature the signature of Garfield's Vice President (and future President) Chester A. Arthur and over 100 additional autographs from Garfield's cabinet, Senators, and Congressmen. The autograph album is a historically significant collection from one of the shortest presidencies in American history. Taking office on March 4th, 1881, Garfield was shot months later on July 2nd, making any and all items signed by Garfield during his presidency scarce and desirable.

Birthday books were popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This one has quotations from Ruskin printed on versos, while each recto lists several days of the month, with blank spaces underneath for the owner to write in or—as was done in this case—have friends, family and guests sign on their birthdays. This copy was most likely owned by a female member of the Royal Family of Montenegro, who lived in Rome from approximately 1900 to 1940. She was clearly a woman of stature, given the prominence of her guests. The book contains more than 250 autographs, including many European royalty, as well as other influential people of the era. Most notable: Guglielmo Marconi, Czar Nicholas II George V & his wife, Queen Mary, Edward VIII, Benito Mussolini, Giacomo Puccini, Woodrow Wilson. The book was signed by a large number of Montenegrin Royalty, along with many relatives of Czar Nicolas II.
