There are nine black and white plates, including the folding map of the River Lea and a map of the Thames. The plates show several species of fish, punt fishing, hooks baited for trolling, angling apparatus, including rods, lines and hooks. Numerous text vignettes and woodcuts. Includes chapters on: Choice of Tackle - Floats and Lines - Trolling for Jack and Pike - Ground-baits of Various Kinds and How to Make Them - Bottom or Float Fishing - Fly-Fishing, etc. See Westwood and Satchell, pp. 186-7 for more information on Salter and his book. The book is bound in contemporary grey boards backed with grey linen and with a black titling label with gilt tiles. The frontis and title page browned, the hinges are strengthened.
