Mitochondria and Cell Death Tapa dura - 1999

de Brown, G.D., Nicholls, D.G. Cooper, C.E

Información de la editorial

This book is a welcome overview of the involvement of mitochondria in cell death and disease, an extraordinarily active research area of major importance to both basic biology and medical science. Clear and thorough chapters present the current approaches leading research teams are taking to examine the role that mitochondria play in inducing the death of various cell types, including heart, brain, and liver cells. The volume is comprehensive in that it examines apoptosis and necrosis from multiple levels and perspectives. As well as covering the genetic and biochemical basis of mitochondrial involvement in cell death, it details how mitochondrial dysfunction could result in various neurodegenerative, inflammatory, and ischemic diseases, and the aging process. Researchers and postgraduates throughout the biological and medical sciences--particularly those investigating the causes and potential treatments of cancers, septic shock, Parkinson's disease, and Alzheimer's disease--will benefit from this book.
