Brothers, John and Matt, stumble upon a compound of alien beings who capture them. The strangers educate the boys to their way of living. John and Matt experience many unusual customs including communication through thought transfer, strange meals consisting of three types of colorful food squares, sleeping chairs, passive exercise and nightly communication with another culture. A robot in the guise of a cat guards the boys. A young alien, Sojo, befriends them and plays an important part in the boyas lives. They think constantly about a plan to return home to their parents, but they see no possibility of escape.
