Sobre este artículo

New York: Harper and Brothers, 1851. Octavo. xiv, 546pp., 6pp., publisher's catalog, The appendix titled "Black Code' list 54 articles of the law of Louisiana such as: Art. I: Decrees of expulsion of the Jews from the colony. Art. II: Makes it imperative on masters to impart religious instructions to their slaves. Art. V: Sundays and holydays are to be strictly observed. All Negros found at work on these days are to be confiscated. Much more presented, mostly of rules of slavery. From the library of Thomas B. Monroe of Frankfort, KY dated 1855. Monroe was appointed Secretary of State in September 1859 in the administration of Governor Beriah Magoffin, becoming the youngest person to ever occupy the office. He served as Secretary of State until October 5, 1861, when he resigned his office to serve as Major of the Fourth Kentucky Confederate Infantry. He was killed at an engagement at Burnsville on April 6, 1862, and was buried on the field of battle by Union soldiers. He was later buried next to his brother in the Frankfort Cemetery. An ex-library copy bound in black cloth, spine lettering gilt, with their perforated stamp to lower margin of title page, scattered foxing throughout. A very good copy.
