The Social Security Act of 1935 was amended in 1939 to provide workers with dependents benefits and survivors benefits. These five pamphlets issued by the Federal Security Agency, Social Security Board explain the expansion of and changes to the landmark Depression-era legislation. Pamphlet titles include: Old-Age and Survivors Insurance for Workers and Their Families ; Monthly Benefits Begin in 1940 ; and How to Calculate Benefits Under Federal Old-Age and Survivors Insurance.
