Philadelphia, PA: Presbyterian Board of Publication, 1839. First US Edition . Hardcover. Good. 16mo - over 5¾ - 6¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, brown cloth boards half bound with leather spine. Exterior shows edge and corner wear and boards show spotting and staining. This the first U.S. edition, with the original publication being a London 1823 copyright with the first Philadelphia printing being 1839. Interior pages are toned and foxing is present throughout, some pages severe. Binding tight, no torn or loose pages. Hinge is pulled a bit at the front board but is still quite secure. Front pastedown has the personal bookplate from Rev. John Mason and front end page shows a different owner name and info. Title page shows signatire of E. H. Hornheek (?) and an 1841 date. Rear page is also signed by Mr. Hornheek though the last page was done in very light pencil. A couple of pages had small upper corner folds.

Purchases will ship by US Media Mail or Priority Mail (if buyer selects) and higher priced items may have insured placed on the order and will typically ship within one business day. Additional postage may be required for multiple volume books or books weighing over 5 lbs., but only in unusual cases. Insurance is available upon request though we normally place insurance on any item of $75 or higher at no additional cost to the buyer. Non-US sales will ship by First Class International or Global Priority. Additional postage may be required for multiple volume books or books weighing over 4 lbs.
We always take extra care in packaging and shipping. Books are typically wrapped in packing paper or bubblewrap before packaged in a sturdt shipping box. All orders, even those shipped by US Media Mail, will be given a USPS tracking number which will be sent to the buyer so they will know when to expect arrival. Please let us know if there is a book with incorrect or missing photos. We recently moved the inventory to Biblio and a title or two may have had issues with the photos being transferred over.
Yesterday's Book shop is owned and operated by a disabled veteran. Due to my limitations, I often have to rely on speech-to-text software to list the books. If the description has typos ("and pages" instead of "end pages", pace downs instead of pastedowns, guilt instead of gilt, etc,) PLEASE let me know so I can correct the listing. The software spells words by phonetics and can make errors that I may not catch.

Yesterday's Book Shop is an independent, family-owned establishment. The store first opened in 1966 under the name Collector's Corner and was located in Western Maryland. The Collector's Corner dealt mainly in books but also sold stamps and assorted ephemera. In 1975 the name was changed to Yesterday's Book Shop when the store only offered books and printed matter. In the early 2000s the brick and mortar store was closed and now we only sell online.
