Sobre este artículo

Hart-Davis, London, 1977. First Edition. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Near Fine Condition/Very Good. beige end-papers; title page in red & black; inscription on front end-paper reads: "Hilda Willis All the Best! Fenner Brockway. Christmas '81." Fenner Brockway was born in 1888 in Calcutta, the son and grandson of missionaries, became a journalist and dedicated socialist and pacifist, serving three years hard labour for refusing to fight in the Great War. He entered Parliament in 1929, and since then has fought unremittingly for the abolition of colonialism and imperialism. He was instrumental in bringing about the Race Relations Acts, and continues to work for better race relations and the needs of the Third World. Lord Brockway describes his relations with a wide variety of people, including Keir Hardie, the Pankhursts, Bernard Shaw, H. G. Wells, Bertrand Russell, Gandhi, George Orwell and Oswald Mosley. He has known personally every Labour Prime Minister from Ramsay MacDonald to Callaghan and met most Heads of State in Africa and Asia over the last three decades, including Nehru, Sukarno, Nasser, Haile Selassie, Nkrumah, Hussein, Indira Gandhi, Ho Chi Minh, Nyerere and Kenneth Kaunda. One of the most controversial yet affectionately regarded politicians of the Left, Lord Brockway has written a fascinating "description of his life and times.
