Sobre este artículo

London: William Heinemann, 1908. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good-. 4to. Pp. xiv, 252. Color frontis. Illustrated with 48 full-page color plates, with printed tissue guards, after the author's paintings. Index. Bound in full red cloth with pictorial cover stamped in black, lettering stamped in gilt on spine. Top edge gilt. Bookplate with offsetting to front free endpaper; spine a touch faded. Withal, a solid, presentable copy. Petrie (1859-1940) is best known as a landscape artist and railway poster designer, but he was also widely traveled, as this, his only book, attests. Here Petrie's paintings convey the exoticism of North Africa with a lucid, credible vision devoid of sentimentality. As a writer, Petrie holds his own. Book is now protected with a removable, clear archival sleeve.
