Sobre este artículo
Surrey: Dragon's World, 1996. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. Fine/Near Fine. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. P Mark Jackson. First edition first printing. Hardback book is tight clean and square. Boards sharp and clean. Text block clean, and white. Feels very gently read. The pages are crisp and unmarked. Fine condition. The Jacket has retained it's gloss, wiht only a small rub to the foot of the front joint. Overall a fine copy. For grading accuracy books are photographed without a protective book cover. Note we do not use stock images, the book pictured is the book described. A fine copy of this collectible first edition first printing title, featuring Lear's limericks and the detailed surreal art of P Mark Jackson, which is both humorous and poignant.
Sinopsis
Edward Lear (1812 - 1888) was an English writer of nonsense, the most famous piece of which is The Owl and the Pussycat. He is also credited with popularizing the limerick, though there was some speculation as to whether his patron, the Earl of Derby, simply used Lear as a pseudonym for his own writings. Lear was also a successful illustrator and even spent some time tutoring Queen Victoria in drawing before his improper behaviour had him thrown out of court.
