External dimensions 132 × 106 mm; in fine condition. Peake 492. London-born Frederick Christian Britton (1889-1931) arrived in South Australia in 1910. He was an artist and arts educator, not least the first principal of the Adelaide School of Arts. Lucy Birks was a daughter-in-law of Charles Birks of the eponymous Adelaide department store (founded in 1876, it merged with David Jones in 1954).
Provenance: H.B. (Harry) Muir (1909-1992), bookseller, publisher and bookplate collector; by descent.
