Sobre este artículo

New York: Limited Editions Club, 1961. Hardcover. Fine in glassines with small tears and a Near Fine dual slipcase with a paint streak. Two volumes in octavo (5" x 7-1/4") and folio (9-1/2" x 13-3/4") bound in half buckram with highly distinctive hand-marbled paper sides by Putois Freres of Paris. The smaller volume, printed in red and black, consists of the original Latin odes with English translations on facing pages selected and edited by Louis Untermeyer with no less than 45 translators represented. The larger volume consists of facsimile pages, in the same size as the originals, of 39 pages from 23 various volumes of Horace dating from 1482 to 1910. Of a total edition of 1500 copies, this is one of only 15 Presentation Copies with each volume with the publisher's blindstamp attesting to such on the colophon page where instead of a number the initials "G.C." are handwritten. Acquired directly from the publisher's files, this copy belonged to Gordon Carroll who was in charge of the club's operations in the 1970s when it operated out of Avon, CT.
