Sobre este artículo
New York: Wiley-Interscience (John Wiley & Sons), 1970. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. Near Fine/Very Good. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. Two Volumes: Parts One and Two of Volume 4 of Arthur Maxwell's "The Sea - Idea and Observations on Progress in the Study of the Seas", in handsome condition as described below. Volume Four, Part One and Part wo, both subtitled "New Concepts of Sea Floor Evolution". Both are First Printings and both published in 1970, though the displayed copyright date of Part One is 1971 (see scans of copyright pages). Both are Near Fine Books in better than Very Good Jackets. See scans. New York: Wiley-Interscience (John Wiley & Sons), 1970. Part One is ISBN # 0471579106; Part Two is ISBN # 0471579114. Multiple maps, charts, diagrams, graphs and photographs in both volumes. Hefty quartos, with illustrated jackets, kelly green buckram boards with red and gilt spine imprinting; Part One is 803 pp. (xi + 1 + 791), Part Two is 677 pp.( xii + 1 + 664). Both volumes are handsome Near Fine examples, with few flaws, and those small in nature; light touching at corners and spine ends, with Part One also showing two small faint ink spots at fore edge; several table of contents items have been underscored in thin red pen; there is no other writing, and no other marks of any kind, in these bright, tight, clean volumes. Small 'abrasions' on pastedowns are apparent transfers of some paper from the back of the jacket flaps. Jackets, bright and unclipped, are better than Very Good, and not far from Near Fine themselves, primarily showing some roughening along top edges and a short closed tear. See all scans. A scarce set of a highly collectible oceanography / geophysics assemblage, in handsome preservation. Chock-a-Block with maps, charts, and other graphic aids to the rich, scholarly text. These volumes will ship in a new, sturdy, protective box - not bags. LT20
