Boards have heavy shelf wear with bumping and fraying to corners and crushing and fraying to spine ends. All surfaces tanned and sunned, particularly spine. Some additional marks and staining to surfaces.

Limited edition of one hundred and sixty copies of which this is number twenty one. Signed by the author to colophon, with original etching of the author, signed in pencil by artist and brother, Muirhead Bone. Illustrated throughout, with fourteen full page monochrome plates, sixteen headpieces and one tailpiece. David William Bone was both a successful sea captain and novelist, and wrote a number of works detailing his time fighting during the First and Second World War. Merchantman Rearmed is based around his experiences during the Second World War, including his participation in Operation Husky, in which the Allies took the island of Sicily from Axis power.
