England brtb Bridges, Robert. The Testament of Beauty: a poem in four books. New York: Oxford University Press, 1930, 183 pages. This is the 1930 second edition. It was printed by William Edwin Rudge. The book was selected by the American Institute of Graphic Arts as one of the 50 best books of the year. The copright page says 1929 but 1930 is pencilled in at the bottom of the title page. There is bumping and wear to corners, a couple of scrapes on cover, the spine is dull but a good, tight copy else. $5.00 Box A 124

Cover soiled and spotted, some edge wear, corners and spine ends bumped, back cover wrinkled and stained, former owner's name and 1937 date on front free end paper, end papers a bit foxed, interior pages clean and lightly tanned, binding tight. Measures 5 x 7 1/2 inches.

Tissue-guarded frontis of a pensive Bridges, Poet Laureate of Britain from 1913-1930. Printed at the Plimpton Press, Norwood, MA. This copy complete with the uncommon "Publisher's Note on the Text" tipped in at rear. Fore-edge of pp. 83/84 uneven after a clumsy opening, either by a dull implement or an unprofessional hand (see photo). Previous owner has underlined passages of personal interest. Small stain on rear board (see photo).
