Lexington: Printed at the Reporter Office, 1829 & 1830. First Edition. Octavo (22cm). Contemporary half-sheep over brown buckram; 216,xxviii + 136pp; errata slip at end of second volume. Joints rubbed, briefly cracked at base of front joint; light soil and wear, generally a sound copy, foxed throughout but heaviest on prelims of first title; complete and Good. With private library bookplate (Bishop White Parish Library Association of Philadelphia) to front pastedown. Dr. Cooke (1783-1853) was the third dean of the Louisville School of Medicine and gained fame for his curative powers during the cholera outbreak of 1833. The current two works were outgrowths of a profound religious conversion Cooke experienced around 1810, the circumstances of which are related early in the first volume.
