Straight, tight and clean, tidy name and date to front endpaper, spine-end and corner bumps, foxing to top and fore-edge of textblock. Dustjacket, light edge nicks to spine-ends and corners, spine slightly darkened, in new Brodart sleeve, the best example of this dustjacket I've ever seen. The British-born soldier, administrative officer, and professional hunter's first book about his adventures in northern Africa beginning in 1941 when he was just 22 years old. Illustrated with 16 full-page drawings by Bruno De Sopra.

Hardcover, bound in light bluish-gray cloth titled in black on the spine, laid into a pictorial dust wrapper. The covers are bumped. The edges of the soiled dust jacket are chipped with small pieces out from the head and tail of the jacket's spine. 192 pages illustrated with a frontispiece, a map and 17 mostly full-page vivid drawings of native Somalis. Very good in a good dust wrapper.
