In the early 18th century, Rupert Holliday leaves England to fight with Marlborough at Blenheim, Ramilies, Oudenarde and Malplaquet. Minor browning to edges of text block. Dust jacket has been price-clipped, has very light browning on spinr and flap-folds, a few small edge tears and chips - some with creases, light edge wear/wrinkling, light rubbing, tiny dent/scuff on front hinge, protected in a mylar sleeve.. No date but with an 1897 gift inscription on the front free endpaper. "New Edition" on title page278 pp. With eight full-page illustrations by H. Petherick and five plans of battle-fields. A tight, bright example, aforementioned 1897 gift insctiption front fre endpaper, some offsetting to the endpapers.

In tan cloth boards with black line shipping themed drawings on front and gilt titles, very good, clean, tight covers, but slightly shelf-worn. Back cover has gilt crest for 'School Board for London. The spine is tight, with gilt titles and illustrations similar to the front cover. End papers are slightly tanned, with book plate for 'School Board for London on front paste down end paper. The cut edges are tanned. Very good text block, tight and only lightly tanned. With 8 full page illustrations (including frontispiece with tissue guard) and 5 fold-out plans of battle fields.

Nearly perfect brown boards, richly decorated in orange, teal and black - with illustration of rifleman and sailors on front - rifles, sword and silver titles on spine. Binding square and solid, hinges as-new, boards clean and bright, pages lightly tanned but show no wear, everything crisp and clean, frontis illustration plus several line drawings in text. Appox. 5" by 7.5", 424 pages.
