Chicago, IL: M.A. Donohue, 1929. Lovely children's tale by the creator of Raggedy Ann and Andy. Red boards with black gently bumped with the previous owner's name in pencil on the front end paper. Full color and black and white illustrations by Gruelle throughout. Jacket lightly rubbed with wear at the corners and spine ends, tear with crease and a dime-sized hole to the upper front panel. All have internal and external clear tape repair. Sticker scuff on the lower rear flap, small hole in the front flap, in Brodart. Hard Cover. Near Fine/Good.

Front cover of the binding has slight abrasion, but still a colorful delight with scarecrow and children. A former owner's name and 1929 date on the page after the copyright page.

Donuhue did not start publishing the old Volland books until the early 1930's. They also did not include edition numbers in their books. Clean, tight and unmarked, no P.O. name. Some rubbing to edges of red cloth boards, now preserved in archival Mylar jacket. A well preserved copy. Title is part of the Sunny Books for children Trust an experienced independent bookseller since 1988. Orders are shipped daily via USPS with delivery confirmation.
