Seems to be a deluxe bound prospectus for a larger volume to be subscribed to; pages erratically numbered because taken from the larger work as samples from each chapter. Approx, 94 p., plus 54 full-size photographic plates, plus frontis. photo with tissue guard. Also four color maps and a color "representation of complete book bound in calf" in gorgeous shades of royal blue, crimson and gilt. Pages are unmarked and clean except for page. "401" which has small open tear at lower margin and smudge at upper margin. Beautiful blue and floral end pages; binding firm though cracked at back gutter; inabsence of d.j. blue boards with unfaded red lettering and representation of White House are bumped at corners and rubbed at crown and foot of spine.

Has a fine half-tone engraving frontispiece from photograph.Also has a number of black and white photos (photos) and illustrations. Maps printed in blue of Phillipines, Hawaii, Cuba and Puerto Rico. A colour lithographic plate of spine for the book to be published affixed to back endpaper section of this sample. This book has a Blue cover with gold print and rendering of the U.S. Capital. Prior owners gift inscription dated 1904 on front endpaper. Contents otherwise clean and bright. With a fine half-tone engraving frontispiece from photograph, numerous black and white plates, and illustrations within and throughout the text, and four maps on plates printed in blue, black, and white being the Philippines, Cuba, Puerto Rico, and Hawaii.
