1899 Christmas gift inscription in front makes this a very early copy. Wear along all edges, pages have browned but still attached and unmarked. A good vintage book!

Black and white illustrated frontispiece. Prize plate stuck to front free endpaper. Slight crinkling to paper at gutter. Clean pages with noticeable tanning and foxing throughout. Tightly bound with faint thumb marking throughout. Pencil markings to front free endpaper. Moderate tanning to free endpapers due to dust jacket flaps. Boards have mild edge-wear with slight rubbing to surfaces and bumping to corners. Slight crushing to spine ends. Gilt lettering is bright and clear. Clipped jacket. Dust jacket has heavy edgewear with some areas of loss, heavy tears, chips and creasing. Heavy loss to spine and panel. Moderate tanning and foxing to interior flaps, panels and spine.

Price-clipped with gift inscription on FFEP in ink. FFEP has upper front corner cut out 1/2" X 3/4". ; A tight solid book. Dust jacket in Mylar jacket protector. ; 12mo 7" - 7½" tall; 256 pages .

London: Blackie & Son, 1111. Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. Not dated. 'A Story of Venice in the 14th Century'. In quite good green cloth boards, gilt titles and coloured soldier to front and back strip. The covers are a little wobbly from damage to hinge, front a little marked, corners and spine cloth end slightly bumped. The front free end paper is missing; the paste downs are a little tanned; the rear free end paper is tanned. Tanned and foxed cut edges. The text block is fairly firm, a little foxed and marked on some pages - good condition. With b/w plates and colour frontispiece.

Moderate foxing and tanning to pages. More prominent to text block edges, pastedowns and free endpapers. Moderate cracking to gutters causing some looseness to binding but pages remain attached. Boards have minor corner bumping and edgewear with mild staining, tanning and scuffing overall. Spine has heavier tanning with soft crushing to ends. Lettering remains bright and clear. Book has a slight forward lean.

Binding has remained firm. Boards are a little rub worn, slight shelf wear to corners, spine and edges. Corners are a little bumped. Spine ends are mildly crushed. Tanning to spine and edges. Light wear to unclipped dust jacket with tears, nicks and creases to spine, edge and corners. Tanning to spine and edges. Sticker to front.

Children's adventure novel, part of the reprint "The Henty Series." GOOD condition. Chipping, tearing and 1 ½ inches of loss to the jacket at the lower left front cover. General browning, some soiling, spotting and staining to the jacket. Minor chipping, tearing and loss along the jacket extremities and hinges. Minor soiling, toning and edgewear to the book. Text block browned.
