Black and white illustrated frontispiece, and many other illustrations throughout. Pages are mildly tanned, and text and illustrations remain clear. Binding is slightly shaky, due to cracking of front hinge, but pages remain attached. Previous owner's inscription to front pastedown. Boards have light shelf-wear, with moderate corner bumping and slight crushing to spine ends. Gilt is bright. Slight rubbing overall, with small brown mark to front board.

Pages are rough cut. Pages are lightly tanned with moderate foxing to endpapers and text block edges. Pencil inscription to front free endpaper, with water staining through front pages. Minor dog-eared corners. Occasional thumb-marking present throughout, with a few small nicks and creases along text block edge. Boards have light shelf-wear with notable corner bumping and mild crushing to spine ends. Boards are subtly bowed. Unclipped jacket has moderate surface wear, with areas of loss, tears and creasing to edges, corners and spine ends. Heavily tanned and moderately foxed. Water staining to front flap.
